Frequently Asked Questions:
Commonly asked questions about our shower door and glass products/services. If you have a question that is not on here, feel free to contact us.
General Info:
Is your work guaranteed? What warranties do you provide?
Yes, all our work is guaranteed. For frameless shower doors, we provide a three-year warranty on parts and one year on labor. Framed shower doors come with a one-year warranty on parts and labor.
Are you bonded and insured?
We carry full Worker’s Liability Insurance to protect you and your home from accidental damage during installations.
Do you require a deposit?
We generally require a 50% initial deposit on all work so that we may order the custom materials.
Do you install the Shower Doors, or do you hire subcontractors to do the work?
We have our own highly trained expert installers to do the work. We do not use subcontractors.
How soon can we schedule the installation?
Once we have a deposit, we can order the materials. Because all of our work is custom, the lead time can vary depending on many factors, but typically it is less than four weeks. After the materials come in, we will contact you to schedule the installation.
Who is your supplier?
We use C.R. Laurence Company - the leading supplier of hardware to the construction trade.
Are you licensed?
We are a registered home improvement contractor (#PA062474) and a licensed dealer for Guardian ShowerGuard.
Frameless Shower Doors:
What thickness of glass do you use?
Because all our work is custom, we work with you to select the most appropriate type of glass for your project and budget. The most common thicknesses we use are 1/4″, 3/8″, and 1/2″.
What is a sill or threshold?
The sill or threshold is the part you step over when you enter the shower.
Can I install a frameless shower door myself?
Yes, if you are handy. However, we recommend that our highly skilled and experienced installers do the work to provide you with the most satisfactory experience. In addition, our product warranties are only valid when we do the installation; we cannot guarantee work done by you or any other contractor.
Will my frameless shower door leak?
Our frameless shower doors are custom fit to your shower and will not leak around the outside. Because there must be a small gap at the hinge to allow the door to move, you may occasionally find some water leaking through, but the amounts will be small.
Remodeling Projects:
How do I get started in designing a bathroom?
Start by visiting model homes in new developments. You can get many excellent ideas there. Then pick up magazines on Bathroom Remodeling and Design. You can find these at any home center and most bookstores.
When should I have Ultimate Shower Doors come to my residence?
Schedule our initial visit after all other work in the shower area is completed, including tile and shower surround kit installation. Tile does not need to be grouted before we come for our measurements, but will need to be finished before we begin installation.
Maintenance:
How should I clean my glass?
We highly recommend Sprayway glass cleaner. You can purchase it directly from us if you like.
Is the glass scratch-proof?
While the glass we use is highly durable, no glass is scratch-proof. The most common cause of scratches on glass is jewelry (especially rings). Choose your cleaning products with care as well. Any cleansers that contain abrasives or strong chemicals, including most standard bathroom cleaning products, can damage your shower enclosure. Only use cleaners specially formulated for glass.
